Orientation for New Program Directors

This complimentary orientation is designed for program directors who are new to their role in the past year. The discussion will provide a high-level overview of the essential, must-know for new program directors. Topics include resources to assist with success, an overview of CAAHEP Standard categories, key responsibilities of the Program Director role, methods of program assessment, Program Director Checklist, the accreditation cycle, key administrative processes, responsibilities regarding various program materials, time management tips, and other resources.

At the conclusion of the interactive mini-workshop, the participant will be able to: Identify resources to assist with successful program management. Identify key responsibilities of the Program Director role. Discuss methods of program assessment. Describe the purpose and frequency of key administrative processes. Discuss methods of managing time and balancing duties.

Distance Education through the Eyes of the CoAEMSP

The CAAHEP Standards identify distance education as a substantive change. What does this mean? What does my program have to do? What has changed? What are the requirements? What is even considered distance education? Is there an additional approval required? Is there another cost involved? Distance delivery modalities can raise numerous questions for a program. This discussion reviews the rationale for additional considerations when using a distance mode of delivery and detail what is required for effective implementation, operation, and monitoring. The implementation timeline and process will be discussed.
